Multi-talented artist Barry Noakes’ A New Dawn is completely innovative. A truly personal release that showcases that music can be used as a healer in many ways, Barry turns to music to heal his scars from a broken relationship. Bringing you up to speed, Barry learned violin, viola, piano and singing from an early age, making music a big part of his life.

Based in Glasgow, Barry Noakes is certainly proving to be a golden asset to the ever-growing Scottish music industry. Stating that a broken relationship actually rekindled his passion for songwriting, A New Dawn is dedicated to self-growth and learning to be independent in a world where people feel dependent on other people.

Sharing his thoughts on the album, Barry Noakes explains: “Broadly speaking the album follows me from a family breakup to thoughts of a brighter future and reconciliation with the past. I don’t like miserable though, so it’s all coloured with refreshing honesty and humour.” Drawing inspiration from the likes of John Prine, Joan Armatrading and even The Pixies, Barry is hard to categorise.

A New Dawn showcases inspirations from the worlds of Folk, Americana, Country and Indie, and comes across as mature in places. From the first track Crows A Calling and its remarkable nostalgic sound, Barry’s distinctive sound is carried throughout the release. Stand-out moments come in the shape of the title track, A New Dawn and its poetic storyline, and Down To The River and its unforgettable heart-warming melody.
