UK West Coast Folk Festival – News

Coming to Blackpool’s Winter Gardens this January, The UK West Coast Folk Festival 2024 is set to bring 33 acts across 3 stages to the iconic seaside resort, topped off by a rare headline set from legendary guitarist Richard Thompson.

From 12th – 14th January 2024, Blackpool will be taken over by some of the finest purveyors of British Folk, including sets by the incredible Eddi Reader, Tom Robinson Band, Cara Dillon, The Webb Sisters, Kiki Dee & Carmelo Luggeri, Dean Friedman and many more.

The bill almost looks like a mini Cropredy – something to keep us warm during the Winter while we await that weekend in August – the lineup packed with a shedload of musicians and bands who’ve featured on the ATB pages over the past year and in recent times.

Richard Thompson is, of course, a regular item – almost as much as Joshua Burnell with his Glass Knight album and 2023 touring – while Kiki Dee & Carmen Luggeri and Skerryvore have both lit up festivals we’ve covered in 2023. The latter providing a stirring bagpipe-fuelled headline to Underneath The Stars. RT’s partner Zara Phillips is also booked so no doubt there’ll be duets aplenty and we’re guessing that the likes of Toby Shaer might be doing a couple of shifts with Cara Dillon and Honey & The Bear.

We’ve also featured the recent Away Beyond The Fret album from Honey & The Bear and not having seen Bella Hardy or Cara Dillon play for a while, there’s a real quality to the bill. Former Leonard Cohen backing singers, the Webb Sisters and the iconic Tom Robinson Band a couple more ‘names’ who add to the pulling power.

Among the 3 stages and 33 acts you’ll also find an Acoustic stage and an Introducing stage where ATB page dwellers, who we last caught at the Manchester Folk Festival, Hannah Scott, Katie Spencer and Lizzy Hardingham can be found.

3 Day Festival tickets are available for £167, with a teenage ticket available for £77. (13-17 year olds must be accompanied by an adult). Exclusive options for hotel accommodation across the weekend can be found here – with the nearest hotel just a 200-metre walk from The Winter Gardens.
