Colchester-based melodic rock group, Pet Needs (made up of brothers Johnny and Goerge Marriott along with Rich Gutierrez and Jack Lock), open their third album – Intermittent Fat Living – with How Are You? It’s a conversational and personal introduction that really engages from the very first moment. The tune speaks on real life topics, affecting the world such as anxiety and being eco-friendly. The shout in the song emphasises the anger behind the tune and gets the message across to the audience.
Separation Anxiety perfectly captures the struggles of being away from the ones you love when you’re always on the road. The use of guitars, bass and drums tie in with the meaningful lyrics. This song would be great to hear live and I’m sure it will be a crowd favourite!
The album ends on Buried Together – a more emotional tune which the song title alludes too. The raw emotion from Johnny Marriott sums up the narrative behind the tune.
Pet Needs highlight their huge talent on Intermittent Fast Living, as well as getting a powerful message across which is shown in each of the track. Not only this, but the band overall work brilliantly together and the instrumentation is top notch.
