IZZY MACARTHUR

Up-and-coming American-Alternative artist Izzy MacArthur has released her debut EP titled ‘Blame It All On A Bad Dream’, which is a must-listen for fans of the likes of Holly Humberstone, Bon Iver and The 1975, with similar personal storytelling features, along with strong instrumentals paired with prominent vocals.

The 21-year-old singer/songwriter introduces us to the EP with the melodic Light Sleeper. It is a prominent opener to the EP and immediately presents the transition into the new era as well as maturing as a person and as an artist. The instrumentals in this track perfectly accompany Izzy’s vocals. The lyrics incorporate the EP title:

“Blame it all on a bad dream
All the silences are way too loud
Need a time machine anyways but now’

EXIT WOUNDS

The narrative continues in the single released back in August – Exit Wounds. Encapsulating the bittersweet feeling of moving on and gaining closure as well as incorporating Bleachers-reminiscent beats in the track.

“Didn’t wanna miss you, miss you like this
You called all of the shots and I couldn’t resist
How could you stand in the crossfire?
With no exit wounds?
I was kinda hoping you’d be hurt too

MacArthur reflects the emotions of longing for a connection with someone who is dealing with their own internal struggles in Landmines. The song highlights a significant and personal meaning, while tying in strong vocals and the perfectly accompanying acoustic guitar.

To close this stunning EP, Izzy closes with; Sleepwalking. The song has a beautiful outro for a beautiful EP. An upbeat yet solemn ending, leaving listeners in a state of reflection. Izzy MacArthur is definitely one to watch out for!
