AWARD WINNER AND SOUGHT-AFTER SESSIONEER

Born and raised on Prince Edward Island, singer-songwriter Logan Richard has built a strong reputation for himself in the clubs and venues of Eastern Canada.  Indeed, his recent single, Feels This Way, was nominated as Single of the Year at Canada’s Music PEI Awards. That’s an achievement that we can all expect to see consolidated when his forthcoming album, Character Traits gets its release in May of this year.  Feels This Way was the album’s lead single and, now, here comes single#2, the mellow, supportive, Up From Here.

Logan is already a much sought-after sessioneer. With over two dozen sync placements to his name, he’s recently toured with both Bahamas and David Myers.  Things are certainly going his way right now.

UP FROM HERE

Up From Here is a delightful song.  Logan’s softly-strummed acoustic guitar provides the accompaniment to his tender, empathetic voice.  The backing band are in a tender mood too. Soft percussion, warm bass and sprinkles of piano provide a discrete accompaniment and a mellow, soothing vibe.

Logan’s lyrics are comforting and supportive as he expresses his support to family member who is grappling with the challenges of addiction – a story that’s portrayed graphically in the single’s accompanying video – and the optimism in his words is characterized by lines like: “I know we can only go from here. Don’t look now what’s in the rear-view mirror.  Don’t look back at the prize, don’t let the dust get in your eyes – we can only go up from here.”

Speaking about the song, Logan says: “Up From Here was born out of a conversation about sobriety.  One of my family members was a big advocate  for it within the music industry. He passed a few months before the writing session [that I had with my friend and co-writer] Chris Kirby.  We talked a lot about the passing of my family member, his legacy and about sobriety, and this song came.” As a taster for the forthcoming album, Up From Here is a tasty morsel indeed.  On this evidence, it seems that, with Character Traits, Logan Richard has something very special in his pipeline.
