Charlie Baker – Yellow Room: Single Review

Perfect Indie Pop Summer sounds on the new single from Charlie Baker.

Release date: 18th July 2025

Label: self released

Format: digital

Charlie Baker broke into the music scene in 2021 after releasing his first single Better With Me. Since then he has appeared on the BBC 3 show Project Icon and released a handful of other tracks within the last few years such as You Want Me, which Baker co-wrote with DJ George Daniel in 2022. This song also featured on Love Island the same year, boosting Charlie’s music into mainstream media.

the song of the summer

Yellow Room is his latest single and it’s definitely sounding like the song of the summer. With its indie pop sound tied in with smooth electric guitar it’s a match made in heaven for a late-night summer song. The song is based around a summer fling with a girl and his desire to be more than a summer fling. This is shown in the feel-good lyrics “pretend we’re in love” and “yellow room.” However, the lyric “yellow room” also describes their own little world, a world where they can pretend, they are more than just a summer fling. A key moment for me is the electric guitar at the start of the track. It’s smooth and sleek creating the perfect start for an indie-pop summer track.

At the moment there are currently no plans for an album by the looks of it but for now we have this track to keep us company for this summer. However, do keep an eye out for tickets to Charlie’s upcoming shows in Basingstoke and
Stevenage as he is an emerging artist you don’t want to miss out on.
