(RE)INTRODUCING: DOLLPILE

Dollpile aren’t actually strangers to these pages, but they are under that particular name.  When we last crossed paths with the Denver, Colorado, ensemble, they were known collectively by the name of their front-person, Isadora Eden.  Back then, in July 2023, we were quietly fascinated by the fare on offer on the band’s debut album, Forget What Makes It Glow.  And, now, it seems that we have another album to look forward to…

Someone Else’s Heaven, the debut album from the band in its Dollpile guise, will be with us early in 2026 and, to set the scene, Isadora & co are scheduling the release of a string of singles – the first of which is Fake Flowers.

FUZZ FOLK

The band’s music has been described variously as ‘Fenne Lily meets Slowdrive‘ or, more simply as: ‘ …a mix of showgaze, indie, folk and more‘.  But the band prefer a shorter definition: Fuzz Folk.

And Fuzz Folk is the best possible description that could be applied to Fake Flowers.  It’s lazy, and it’s dreamy – a sense that’s compounded by Isadora’s pared-back vocals, her jangling guitar and a light-as-air drumbeat.  The accompanying video – featuring a forest of dolls and lots of cardboard and silver foil – is seriously weird and a lot of fun (you can see for yourself below…) – and the song is strangely and solidly alluring.

AND THERE’S MORE…

And the good news is that Fake Flowers is just the tip of a slowly emerging iceberg.  Follow-up single, Stoplights will be with us in mid-October, with two further singles: Someone Else’s Heaven (the title track of the forthcoming album) and Cities to follow in, respectively, November and January.  It’s going to be a busy and rewarding few months for Fuzz Folk lovers; watch these pages for further news and reviews.
