Venice Revive on Trivium: Why I Love

Omer Cohen’s Venice Revive is a symphonic metalcore project from Israel, inspired by stories of Venice’s empty canals and even dolphins swimming through — a vision that gave birth to the band’s name. Their music blends heavy metalcore riffs with orchestral elements to create a powerful and emotionally rich sound.Their debut album, Future Paradise, reflects deeply personal themes, especially grief following the loss of Omer’s father, and aims to help listeners process loss and healing.

Omer joins us at the barrier, to explain why he loves Trivium

GETTING INTO METAL

I was 14 years old and just started getting into metal, it was with bands like Avenged Sevenfold, Disturbed, Sabaton, Epica, etc. My taste in metal subgenres was all over the place until I found out about Trivium through YouTube recommendations, I got hooked immediately, to Trivium and to metalcore as a genre.

The song that was suggested was Strife, what got me hooked is how captivating they are without trying to sing very high notes and have energetic & “in your face” writing, it’s chill yet somehow I get goosebumps from it. For a while after finding out about them, I was binging them nonstop, they were just on repeat through YouTube videos while I did whatever on my PC.

BIGGEST INSPIRATION

They became my biggest inspiration when it comes to writing, the chorus Hivemind from the album Future Paradise takes heavy inspiration from, and is kind of a blend, of Trivium’s No Way To Heal and As I Lay Dying’s Cauterize.
You can easily hear their sound in some of the other songs on the first album.

My favorite song by them is  without a doubt Forsake Not The Dream. The guitar work on it is the best I’ve seen, I think that’s the song that taught me about proper duel-guitars writing, not just harmonising.

I saw them live multiple times and flew to Europe to see them live more than once. Graspop 2016, Graspop 2018, Rock im Park 2019, Budapest 2023 & Berlin 2025.

Our thanks to Omer for the insight into the influence of Trivium.

Here’s some Venice Revive – “a bit different from our usual sound and that’s one of the reasons it’s so good in our opinion! The lyrics describe how the human race managed to face everything nature threw at it, but not just survived, it also evolved through it. But the real meaning is about my dad, how he had a successful life even with severe heart problems and multiple open heart surgeries with less than 10% survival rate before the age of 10.”
