Hollie Rogers releases her second single & video Spaceman featuring the Budapest Symphony Orchestra.
EVERYTHING’S FINE
From the forthcoming album – Everything’s Fine out on 5th June – acclaimed singer-songwriter Hollie Rogers releases Spaceman. Spaceman showcases a striking new dimension of Rogers’ songwriting, blending intimate piano, cinematic orchestration, and raw emotional storytelling.
A song which stands apart stylistically as the only piano ballad on Everything’s Fine, Hollie knew it had to be included. The album is her most honest and multidimensional work to date, a record that embraces life’s contradictions, finding humour, healing, and hope amid the chaos.
Originally conceived as an upbeat rock anthem, Spaceman took an unexpected turn, evolving into a piano-led ballad with strings performed by The Budapest Symphony Orchestra. The song was co-written with Hollie’s’ collaborator and pianist Ed Blunt during a writing retreat and was inspired by a shared real-life moment neither of them will ever forget, a night when Ed Blunt and Hollie saw a very low, flaming meteor tearing across the sky, and thought it might be the end of the world.
SIMPLY THE BEST
Hollie shares, “We heard a sonic boom and saw a low-flying meteor that had crashed into the earth’s atmosphere. It was the sort of thing you’d be sure you imagined had you been alone, and neither of us will ever forget what it looked like. A huge green/orange orb streaking through the night sky. That was where our opening line came from.”
Reflecting on the songwriting process Hollie adds “Believe it or not, our starting point for this writing session was to create something with a similar vibe to Simply The Best by Tina Turner! But it quickly took on a life of its own, evolving in a completely unexpected direction, a million miles away from the original plan. But if you listen closely, you’ll notice the rhythm of opening line, “Remember the night we saw the light in the sky” closely matches the rhythm of the opening guitar riff in Simply The Best. This wasn’t intentional but I think it’s unlikely to be a coincidence.”
Spaceman reached its final form when Hollie’s first-ever orchestral arrangement, co-written with Nicole Picazo, was recorded by The Budapest Symphony Orchestra in Hungary. “Watching the musicians bring the song to life was overwhelming “ says Hollie. “They played so beautifully that I cried actual tears on the Zoom call.”
When The Floyd’s Nick Mason compares Hollie to Carole King and Joni Mtchell, a live encounter seems a must do. Here are the upcoming tour dates for 2026:
