Niall Horan – Dinner Party: Single Review

Niall Horan is back with romantic, pop ballad Dinner Party.

THREE YEARS ON

Three years on from ‘The Show’, Niall is back with a romantic, pop ballad focusing on his personal life. ‘Dinner Party’ opens with soft acoustic guitar and gentle drums, the beat reflects a romantic, laid-back dinner party. Via X (formally known as Twitter) Horan said “this song is about a really happy and big moment in my life. an evening at a simple dinner party that changed the course of my life. after writing the song , the words ‘dinner party‘ became the nucleus for the rest of the record. that once in a lifetime moment that i am grateful for and for everything that came after that night.”

FIRST DATE

Lyrically, it’s as if Horan is telling us a story. The song reminisces on the first night Horan and his now girlfriend Amelia Woolley met, at an actual dinner party. He sings ‘Picking up boxes with our teeth / Playing games we’ve never played before.” which Horan himself said was an activity he did at the dinner party. The chorus, “Crashing lights when you first saw me / Yeah, I met you at a dinner party / Chandeliers, 2 a.m. coffee / Yeah, I met you at a dinner party.” reflects the giddy, exciting feeling you feel when meeting someone you really like. It’s a sweet and light-hearted track, inviting listeners in to a personal moment of Horan’s life.

DINNER PARTY

As well as a new song, we are also getting a new album. ‘Dinner Party’ is set to be released on June 5th making it Horan’s 4th studio album. Containing 12 tracks, we can expect a very heartfelt and personal album for example ‘End of an Era’ is a subtle mention to late bandmate Liam Payne. Niall also teased the release of tour dates with UK, Ireland and European dates being released on the 24th March. Keep an eye out for tickets as this will be a tour you won’t want to miss.
