DUB COVERINGS…
London based dub reggae crew The Hempolics return with A Fistful Of Covers, a brand-new EP released on ZeeZee Records. A Fistful Of Covers was released on 1st May 2026 exclusively via Bandcamp and will hit all major streaming services on 29th May. A Fistful Of Covers features the band reworking some of their favourite songs with each paired with a signature dub version. A Fistful Of Covers is the first release from the band since their 2024 album KCT3, released to rapturous acclaim.
IN THEIR OWN WORDS…
Lead single is a reggae-infused take on No Ordinary Love by soul legend Sade, flipped into a deep, bass-heavy groove. The smooth, emotive tones of the original shine in a fresh arrangement, now carrying a moving, upbeat Rub-a-Dub reggae flow. The second offering pays tribute to one of the band’s favourite artists, Shuggie Otis, with their version of Aht Uh Mi Hed, reimagined with a soulful, jazz-tinged reggae feel, driven by a four-to-the-floor rhythm and accompanied by a dub.
Rounding things off is Nothing More To Say, a rework of a track by one of their favourite New York bands, The Frightners. It’s reworked with an upbeat, summer-ready Hempolics twist, complete with vibrant horns and feel-good energy. Speaking on the project, producer Grippa Laybourne explains, “these are tunes that meant something to us, so we’ve taken them and run them through The Hempolics sound, produced with love and respect to the originals, whilst also putting our own stamp on them.”
