Northern alt-pop riser and BBC Introducing One To Watch, Lois unveils new track ‘Holy Water’.
HOLY WATER
Having recently returned with dance-floor anthem Small Town Party Girl, which gained support from Elton John’s Rocket Hour and multiple BBC Introducing Track Of The Weeks, latest cut Holy Water takes a playful bite-back at a former lover. Combining her signature ‘80s pop influences in Prince with today’s leading names in HAIM and Self Esteem the infectious track marks an exciting new chapter for the Morecambe-born artist.
Lois explains: “Holy Water is all about being with someone who can’t make up their mind on if they want you or not and getting sick of waiting for them to figure it out. Your Constantly being picked up and dropped. They know that they could come back to you at any minute, and you’d say yes even though they’re fundamentally flawed…”.
The breezy track is relatable and raw. A light and upbeat tempo disguises the melancholy lyrics of confusion within the relationship. The chorus is catchy and whimsy:” ‘Cause I don’t wanna wait on you / Waiting / For you to finally / Figure it out”. The track has hints of the feel good sound of The 1975 blended with whimsy pop production, it feels like a teenage girl love letter.
NORTHERN ALT – POP RISER LOIS
Having started songwriting in her teenage years as an outlet for processing experiences that were hard to describe with words, Lois left her small town of Morecambe at age 16 to study music. She signed her first record deal at 19, with her debut EP Strange Men released in 2023.
Building on sold-out headline shows, support slots alongside The Lottery Winners, Etta Marcus, and SOFY, 2025 saw Lois kickstart her next chapter as an independent artist. Now, with two EPs and a series of sold-out shows, Lois is introducing a new side of her artistry as she finds moments of joy and euphoria in the everyday.
ONE TO WATCH OUT FOR
Late 2026 will see Lois perform a headline show and release her third project. Taking influences from Prince and Talking Heads to today’s leading names in Self Esteem and Haute & Freddy, it hones a sound that is unapologetically her own.
This August Lois, Scouting for Girls, and synth pop band Deco will join Sophie Ellis-Bextor at Tileyard North. This concert adds to the series of gigs taking place across Wakefield this summer.
