George Marios follows up Your Heart with a new single and video.
The music video for the second single from the upcoming record, is something quite different from the first both musically and visually. Somewhere To Be is George’s emotional reckoning with the grip of social media addiction — “an issue that consumed years of my life, often at the expense of meaningful moments with those closest to me.”
The rather haunting and at times disturbing music video was filmed last year at Wilding Wood Studios in Sussex. “I wanted it to be abstract and open to interpretation, set deep in the woods to evoke a sense of myth and timelessness,” says George. Inspired aesthetically by Robert Eggers’ The Witch, the visuals capture a raw, almost Pagan sensibility with a hint of Tolkien. The film stars Grace Parry (Baby Reindeer) as Yeenaeka, unfolding like a half-remembered dream—enigmatic and inviting reflection. One of those visualizations that’s a just a step away from ‘if you go down to the woods today…’
The song recounts the tale of a man whose mind has been hollowed by ceaseless noise. One who cannot endure stillness or silence and is unable to be in the moment. Somewhere To Be was written in early 2021, during the height of my struggle. Musically, it draws from the atmospheric vastness of Sigur Rós and the eerie sonic landscapes of Pink Floyd, interwoven with anthemic, guitar-driven moments. George talks of Something To Be as both a reflection and an attempt to break free—a search for authenticity amid the noise.
