Stephen EvEns – A Tree: Video Premiere

We premiere the new single and video from Stephen EvEns – A Tree.

From the phenomenon that brought us I Hate Shop (I Am Shop), A Bear With Furniture and The Day I Burned My House Down comes the new single A Tree.

Taken from the forthcoming Here Come The Lights album, A Tree is described as being of the psychedelic persuasion – with a more celebratory feel than previous material – packed with kaleidoscopic layers that hint at a Glam Rock feel. Think Madness meets Syd Barrett with the odd zap and whoosh from Hawkwind. There’s certainly a pleasant quirkiness about the tune and the lyric. The insistence of being taken to the trees is played out in the accompanying video which involves Stephen in contemplation in the woods with the dog at his side.

While the EvEns Twitter tag might declare “Beautiful songs, horrible words,” don;t be fooled – this is great fun, and are we the only ones (or is it common knowledge?) who spot the resemblance to “rock star” Daniel Wakeford from The Undateables (but more in tune…).

Credits: Stephen Gilchrist – Vocals; Josh Perl – Piano, Casiotone & Jen String Machine; Jimi Scandal – Guitar; Debbie Smith – Bass Guitar; Crompton Wespp – Drums.
