CONTINUED INSPIRATION

Blue Rose Code, who have featured many times on At The Barrier, continue to inspire both on record and playing live. Combining soul, jazz and folk influences, Ross Wilsonโ€™s songs authentically reflect the power of personal history, love and connection, and place. Live, both at festivals and in venues, the power of the Blue Rose Code full band performances has justly garnered enthusiastic reviews and audience responses.

In December, a dynamic representation of this incredible live band, was released, with the live album โ€˜Sold Out At St Lukes, Glaโ€™. The album is a good starting place to experience what Blue Rose Code can deliver live. Last yearโ€™s studio album of new songs, Bright Circumstance, added new musical settings and influences, and a courageous strand of socially aware writing, evident in a number of songs on the album.

THE SONG NEVER REMAINS THE SAME

Of course, with Ross and Blue Rose Code, songs never stay the same, as they are developed and reinterpreted in the live setting, by an ever evolving collective of very talented musicians. . This engaging dimension of Rossโ€™s music, will again be at the fore in 2025, as he sets out in the spring to road test new songs, on a duo basis, in more intimate venues. These songs will likely be recorded on a new album.

A request has gone out for folk clubs and similar type venues who might want to host these shows. The response from venues and folk clubs, reported by Ross, has been very positive indeed, which is a very heartening endorsement of developing new music. If Blue Rose Code come to a venue near you, donโ€™t miss these shows, where audiences become an intrinsic part of a songโ€™s development, as Ross is a musician and songwriter who is absolutely attuned to how an audience is experiencing his music. Following the music of Blue Rose Code is always an exciting and imaginative journey and 2025 looks like it will be no exception.
