PRETTY ON THE INTERNET

Pretty On The Internet is the captivating second studio album from up and coming Northern talent: The K’s. The album is produced by Grammy-Award winning producer Jim Lowe (Taylor Swift, Stereophonics), and sees the band push their sound into more polished territory while still staying true to their signature energy and lyrical honesty.

Following the success of their debut album, I Wonder If The World Knows?, which soared to Number 1 on the Official Independent Albums Chart in the UK and reached Number 3 on the UK’s Official Albums Chart, Pretty On The Internet is set to secure The K’s as one of the best upcoming bands from the UK.

Before I Hit the Floor kicks off the album with an energetic start, led by the whirring guitars of Ryan Breslin and Dexter Baker, which instantly set the tone. The track symbolises an emotional breakdown, an overarching theme that threads throughout the record. Nathan Peers on drums makes a bold entrance, while Jamie Boyle’s vocals channel vulnerability into empowerment. As an opener, it not only grabs your attention but sets the emotional groundwork for what’s to come, highlighting that this is The K’s at their most honest and personal yet.

BREAKDOWN IN MY BEDROOM

The album journey resumes in Breakdown In My Bedroom, where The K’s seem to succeed in creating the perfect contrast between an upbeat indie tune and the deeper message behind the lyrics. As the first single to be released off the album, it was a suitable introduction to the Pretty On The Internet era, showing fans what they can look forward to on the new album. Lead singer Jamie Boyle shared that “Breakdown in My Bedroom” was written as a reflection of my ongoing struggle to maintain mental stability when navigating through various situations. It’s about that internal battle—the moments when anxiety takes over, and the idea of staying in my bedroom, locked away from the world, seems like a safer and more comfortable option than facing social interactions or confronting difficult situations.”

Pretty On The Internet signifies a contrast in The K’s music, compared to their debut album. While still creating an indie vibe, it incorporates orchestral instruments, adding a unique touch. This album not only showcases The K’s musical versatility, but it also explores their meaningful lyricism and artistic evolution.

Picking Up the Pieces carries a similar upbeat vibe to the opening track- Before I Hit the Floor. The single captures a powerful blend of pain and the process of moving on, making it a standout release that resonates with listeners.

ME AND YOUR SISTER

Me and Your Sister is reminiscent of the band’s debut album, but delivers a stronger, more rock-driven sound on this album. Jamie Boyle (lead singer) stated that he wanted to take a ‘less serious route’ with this single, which reflects the tongue-in-cheek lyrics:

‘Cause I said me and your sister have the same dealer
I met a few of your friends in Ibiza
They came to a show, so I went out to meet ‘em

Running Away Now is another standout track that creates an ideal balance between deeply personal lyrics and infectious instrumentals, making it the kind of song you can’t help but imagine hearing live, surrounded by a crowd full of people.

PERFECT HAUNTING

Perfect Haunting brings Pretty On The Internet to a poignant close, standing out as a uniquely introspective moment in The K’s discography. The stripped-back intro highlights a side of the band not often seen, allowing listeners to connect with a personal moment. It invites listeners into a personal space, creating a quiet moment that contrasts with the high energy of previous tracks. Perfect Haunting doesn’t just close the album: it creates a long-lasting effect, encouraging listeners to reflect on the journey they’ve just taken.

Will you put on my songs
and dance with my ghost
In the mornings
