Edenthorn return with an aptly titled new single to round off the Year Of The Snake.

It’s been a-g-e-s since we heard from Edenthorn with The Noise In My Head. Or should we say a-g-e-ssssss….read on….
They return with their new single Year Of The Snake, out today. The track marks the band’s first release in a few years and offers a taste of a fresh direction while staying true to their modern Hard Rock roots.
SHED YOUR SKIN!
Inspired by the symbolism of the Chinese zodiac’s Year of the Snake, the song explores the ideas of personal transformation and becoming more aware of the energy within your circle. A song where the lyric is focussed around themes of rebirth, shedding old skin (get it?) and stepping away from people who don’t have your best interests at heart. Hidden agendas come up against new beginnings as Edenthorn shed a skin and emerge renewed with a monster new song.
In at the deep end then, the riff strikes immediately. A dirty – filthy even – snaking (naturally) and fat (what bassist Faiba Gabrielle calls “extra beef!“) groove shakes the floor before Kyle Tague enters with a confident vocal. Some might hear a cool Myles Kennedy vibe in his delivery. That groove returns in waves with the rhythm section pumping/pulsing/throbbing/bouncing/punching – take your pick – like a good rhythm section should. And just hang on in there for the moment just after the three minute clock when an inspired solo kicks in.
COMEBACK COMPLETE
What a way to return – you can feel the thrill of being back with a new song – and though the ‘real’ Year of the Snake may be coming to an end, the theme of new beginnings marks the track as one which offers a belting musical start to 2026.
Just in case you didn’t catch it or wondered, but didn’t like to ask, Kyle clarifies: “Whilst recording Year Of The Snake, I accidentally held the โSโ on the line โin case one bitesโ a little too long. When we played it back, it sounded like a snake hiss!” He adds how it was “completely unintentional and we laughed at first โ then realised it fit the song too perfectly to change, so we kept it!“
Year Of The Snake will be available to purchase on Bandcamp from 19th December.
AND THERE’S MORE
Alongside the single, Edenthorn will release a lyric video to accompany the track, giving fans a first look at the aesthetic direction leading into their upcoming music. The band is also currently working on their next album, due for release in 2026, marking seven years since their previous album, Exist.
