At The Barrier favourites, Brighton’s Barbara have announced that they’ll be conducting a short English tour in September 2022, to promote their phenomenal recent mini-album, Mildly Entertaining. We loved the album and we were knocked out when we saw the band live, back in May. Now you can see for yourselves what all the fuss is about.

Regular visitors to At The Barrier will be aware that we’ve recently become huge fans of Barbara, the Brighton-based outfit led by brothers Henry and John Tydeman. I adored their recent mini-album Mildly Entertaining (still in the running as one of my 2022 Albums of the Year!) and I was knocked out by the band’s live presence when I was fortunate enough to be at Brighton’s Prince Albert for the album’s official launch show in May. The band got a great reception when they opened for the one and only Divine Comedy earlier this year and now, for the first time, they’ll be headlining their own tour, with a small schedule of dates announced for September.
The guys will be appearing at the following venues:
Birmingham – Hare and Hounds: 6th September
Manchester – Gullivers: 7th September
London – The Grace: 8th September
Brighton – Prince Albert: 17th September

I’ve previously suggested that Barbara’s music will appeal strongly to lovers of The Divine Comedy, 10cc, Stackridge or, maybe particularly, Sparks, and I can confidently assure anyone who’ll be in any of the above cities on the prescribed nights that their live show will leave them breathless, invigorated and delighted. If you’re around I strongly recommend that you get along to your nearest venue to find out what all the fuss is about. We’ll be there, you can be sure of that!
