After her song Marigold featured in the At The Barrier playlist that entertained the assembled masses between sets at Fairport’s Cropredy Convention, we issue a timely reminder that Annie Keating’s 2023 UK is now just around the corner.

We’ve never hidden our admiration for Brooklyn singer, songwriter, poet and full-bore rock ‘n’ roller Annie Keating under very much of a bushel. We’ve loved the albums of hers that have come our way (and you can read our glowing reviews of her most recent offerings, Bristol County Tides (2020) and Hard Frost (2023) via these links. And, when she’s out on the road with that awesome touring band of hers – Joe Coombs on guitar, Scott Warman on basses and Jamie Dawson on drums – well; the Earth shakes.
And, happily, the time is almost nigh for that Earth to begin its trembling and pulsing once again as Annie will be kicking off her 2023 UK Tour in just a few days’ time.
At The Barrier was honoured to be invited to curate the between-sets playlist at this year’s Fairport’s Cropredy Convention and, during the break between the appearances of Solstice and The Young ‘Uns, festival punters were treated to a blast of Marigold – a standout track from Bristol County Tides and, I confidently expect, a shoo-in for the setlist for Annie’s coming tour – so if you had your ears engaged at Cropredy and wondered who was responsible for that blast of solid widescreen Americana that lifted your afternoon, then your luck’s in – your chance to meet its creator is nigh.
And festival devotees may be particularly interested to learn that Annie’s itinerary includes an appearance at the enticing Septembersong Festival – the latest venture from the organisers of the award-winning WOOD Festival – which takes place in Braziers Park in the village of Ipsden (near Wallingford, Oxfordshire) on 15th-17th September. Annie and her band appear on Friday 15th.
