Prognosis – Follow You Down: New Single

The second single from the Esigen trilogy – the prognosis is good

Following on from lead single Phantom Force, released in April, the new track Follow You Down, sees the band experimenting with dark, off-kilter riffs and a huge chorus. Mixed by Nathan Smart (Where Oceans Burn, Sleep Inertia) and mastered by George Lever (Monuments, Sleep Token) the track sees the band continuing to explore dark, introspective topics.

Follow You Down is a song about escapism and finding your ‘secret garden’” says guitarist Phil Weller. “ A space either mental or physical where we can be ourselves away from the uncertainty and darkness of life.”

Here’s the new video:

Esigen’s three tracks are being released as a series of singles throughout 2023. Each track sees the band working with different engineers and delivering a trio of songs that showcase the band’s evolving, multi-dimensional sound. Together, they usher in a new era for the band, underlined by the addition of its versatile new vocalist, Corban Skillånder.

Esigen, meaning ‘after origin’, is a record all about defining a new era for the band. Having released their debut album Definition in 2018, the band has continually evolved its sound and personnel, uniting a strong, visceral musicality with sharper hooks and a refined, more contemporary edge.  The new single offers the latest chapter in the band’s journey, delivering dislocated riffs and heightened hooks in a powerfully oxymoronic fashion.

Following on from a trend started with Definition, the band has announced that Esigen will release alongside a collection of short stories directly inspired by its music.

We’re huge fans of creating experiences that extend beyond just music with this band,” says Phil, “and we’re proud to do that again. The //Esigen// novella comprises three interconnected short stories inspired by a different track from the EP and tied together with a narrative that follows a god in therapy, struggling with imposter syndrome. The stories look at the lyrical themes across the tracks and twist them into a new light, giving fans a multi-dimensional way to experience our new music and the themes it explores.”

The EP and book are slated for release in late 2023.  Meanwhile, catch Prognosis at The Per Hat in Manchester on 25th September with the mighty Tiberius.

Prognosis is:
