Ferocious Dog’s latest single is emotive, passionate and powerful; a call to action and awareness. This song broadcasts their message of resistance, change and equality for all. It clearly embodies who they are and what they stand for as a band.
“I got the inspiration from the classic Linton Kwesi Johnson song ‘Sonny’s Lettah’ and the discrimination shown to people invited to the UK for work, where it was the norm to state No Blacks, No Dogs, No Irish, ” says Ken from the band.
“I see hate and division raising its ugly head again in the UK since the Brexit vote, which is condoned by this far right government and police laws being changed to assist in discrimination. A good friend of mine gave me a T shirt for my birthday with the writing on it MORE BLACKS MORE DOGS MORE IRISH and after i’d thanked him I said “I’m going to write a song with these lyrics in” and the rest is history as they say.”
Opening with a haunting and melodic fiddle piece it then quickly launches in to a more furious fiddle riff with the full band joining in to attack. The clear and concise vocals put the message across with lyrics that couldn’t fail to evoke a rise in anyone who stands up and supports equal rights for all.
The chorus is rousing, “more blacks, more dogs, more Irish” is the call and you could imagine audiences shouting this, fists in the air. This song is a catchy, high powered, energetic, anti-discrimination song, promoting freedom to all – it’ll definitely be on repeat. Plus, the chorus is a banger to singalong with!
Ferocious Dog’s new album Kleptocracy is released on 17 May; Along with the single, the album features a further 11 songs and will be available on CD, Deluxe CD (with 4 bonus songs), transparent red vinyl (exclusive from the band’s website), clear vinyl and all digital platforms.
