Yellow Days to release Hotel Heaven: News

Yellow Days applies the seductive allure of his captivating voice to stories of millennial angst and existentialism.

Renowned for his adventurous hybrid of off-kilter psychedelic indie-pop, P-Funk grooves and sumptuous soul, Yellow
Days applies the seductive allure of his captivating voice to stories of millennial angst and existentialism. Itโ€™s a style that has attracted fans including fellow mavericks Tyler, The Creator and Tom Waits, plus a like-minded collaborator in the shape of Mac DeMarco. Now Yellow Days embraces a grander conceptual framework with his upcoming third album, Hotel Heaven, which will be released on April 5th. He also shares a first taste of the record in the shape of its first single, Mrs Midnight.

Sonically, this cosmic concept album combines the lo-fi aesthetic of Tame Impala and the elastic funk grooves of Sly
Stone with the emotional grit of Plastic Ono Band-era John Lennon to create a thrilling antidote to auto-tuned pop
blandness. Yet for such an ambitious work, its creative process was heavily streamlined. Yellow Days recorded the
entire album in his flat in Brick Lane, east London, belting out his distinctive vocal talent, playing every instrument and
programming all of its drums.

Yellow Days – aka George van den Broek – says, โ€œHotel Heavenโ€™ represents fake comfort in all its forms, this whole
bullshit idea of luxury where nothing is real. I wanted to write about everything that is happening right now – this TikTok age where everyone wants to be famous. Itโ€™s also a big 360 of my life and career to date. I wanted to get away from everything Iโ€™d done before, wash my face and start afresh.โ€

Hotel Heaven is now available to pre-order / pre-save here. It will be released digitally, on CD and vinyl.

Here is a a quick recap of the Yellow Days story. He was just 16-years-old when an EP he recorded in his parentsโ€™ shed saw him heralded as a next wave talent – a reputation delivered on with his acclaimed 2017 album Is Everything Okay In Your World? Moving into the major label world, Yellow Daysโ€™ music became ever more layered and expansive with 2020โ€™s A Day In A Yellow Beat, which was a dream for fansโ€ฆ if not the labelโ€™s suites. Instead Yellow Days went back-to-basics as he committed to proving that he could deliver upon his early potential, something that demonstrated on the 2022 EP Yellow Days and that he now exceeds with Hotel Heaven.

Yellow Days recently announced details of major touring plans for 2024. Next month will see him embark upon his first full UK headline tour since 2018 which includes a landmark London show at KOKO, which heโ€™ll follow with a run of dates in Europe and then two legs of extensive North American touring.
