L’objectif – The Left Side: EP Review

L’objectif return with their second EP; The Left Side. This quartet are ones to watch on the indie circuit.

Release Date: 22nd March 2024

Label: Chess Club Records

Format: CD / Vinyl / Digital

The Left Side is the newly released 2nd EP from L’objectif, following the release of their 2022 EP We Aren’t Getting Out But Tonight We Might. Lead singer, Saul Kane, produced the EP alongside Ali Chant and the EP was created from his bedroom.

The Leeds rock quartet L’objectif (made up of Saul Kane, Louis Bullock, Ezra Glennon and Dan Richardson) introduced us to The Left Side with the single ‘entitled’, released back in October. The track opens with a prominent drum beat, creating a strong start to the EP.

Conman is the track from the EP which explores being in love with someone so much that they could do anything and your opinion on them wouldn’t change.

Looks like the drink is talking for me ’cause I’m talking way too much
But you could hit me shoot me, hunt me
And I’d still be in love
Or maybe I talk too much

The Dance You Sell is the most memorable tune and a crowd favourite when performed live. The guitars are prominent and make it the ideal indie rock tune. Lily Of The Valley is the last single to be teased before the EP and is the perfect end to The Left Side.  The tune seems to differ as it is more of a chill type beat, but then builds up again into a fervent, energetic rocky anthem.

L’objectif are seemingly unstoppable and for them the only way is up! It is exciting to look forward to see what the future holds for this underrated up-and-coming band. Following the release of the new EP, L’objectif are heading back out on tour. The band are coming to the UK beginning in April. Check out L’objectif’s tour dates here.
