Carla Fuchs – Full Moon: a Sandy Denny tribute

Carla Fuchs releases a moving tribute to Sandy Denny of the anniversary of her passing.

21st April is the anniversary of the death of legendary folk singer Sandy Denny who left us back in 1978. Sandy left behind a wonderful music legacy, a legacy that Carla Fuchs continues to bring to a new and wider audience.

In memory of this and to continue to celebrate the legacy of music that Sandy left behind, we are delighted to help Carla do just that. We showcase Carla’s latest video  – a moving cover of Sandy’s song Full Moon – to mark the anniversary of her passing.

German songstress Carla Fuchs released her Songbird album on Talking Elephant Records in September 2023. The album set unpublished Sandy Denny lyrics to her own musical arrangements. We called the album “An artful, intimate and sympathetic channeling of Sandy Denny’s lost lyrics .” It was Carla’s personal covers of Sandy’s work that initially connected her to Sandy’s daughter Georgia Lucas from which work on the album followed.

We were lucky enough to catch Carla’s set at the Brasenose Fringe in Cropredy in August 2023 and had the opportunity to visit Georgia’s personal collection of Sandy memorabilia on display at the Brasenose Arms.

  1. A wonderful rendition of one of Sandy’s finest songs and a lovely way to mark the anniversary of her tragic passing.
