A band we loved at Cropredy in 2022, the Slambovian Circus Of Dreams from Sleepy Hollow, NY, hit the UK circuit again in June…

Heading back to the UK in June The Slambovian Circus of Dreams invites audiences to explore the depths of Americana “one trippy tune at a time” The band’s nine date 2024 UK tour from  14 June until 23 June, bookending with appearances at two festivals – at Devises Arts Festival and the Festival of Light in Lowestoft.

Back in the red hot Summer of 2002 we called them a band who “tipped plenty of hats to a wide array of influences. It was hard to move away from hearing Tom Petty but there were flashes of Springsteen and Zevon in there as well as The Moody Blues and Syd Barrett.” There’s now another chance to witness Joziah the resident shaman of Slambovia, who leads the circus with vocals described as “soothing and bewitching as a snake oil tonic.”

Longtime bandmates – the diminutive Tink Lloyd (accordion, cello, mandolin, flute) dwarfed by her accordion, and Sharkey McEwen prowling menacingly on guitar/mandolin bring their own magic to the Slambovian brew. With friends –RJ McCarty (keys, bass,), and Matthew Abourezk (drums) the band stirs up a highly entertaining well paced set.

Since their first UK visit in 2008 The Slambovians have regularly returned to the UK bringing their energetic performances of Woodstock-tinged psychedelia laced with southern rock, Celtic and British folk to an ever growing army of loyal fans. This seemingly chaotic mix of musical styles has been described as – “a slice of Americana pie that is irresistible’.”

The band’s set for this tour will include a mix of tracks from their highly successful latest album A Very Unusual Head along with a few Slambovian classics. They will also be celebrating the 25th Anniversary of their debut album, A Good Thief Tips His Hat reprising many of the tracks. The album was never officially released or toured in the UK – an opportunity for fans new and old to discover where it all started.
