Sabrina Carpenter shines once again in her sixth studio album, following the release of the 2022- album ‘emails i can’t send’.
Release Date: 23rd August 2024
Label: Island Records
Format: CD / Vinyl / Digital

Short n’ Sweet is the sixth album from Sabrina Carpenter. The album contains influences of R&B, Rock and Pop, which is not a surprise considering it was produced with the iconic Jack Antonoff (Taylor Swift, The 1975).
From the release of the Short n’ Sweet singles (Espresso and Please Please Please), Sabrina became the first female artist to hold both the number 1 and 2 positions in the Official Singles Chart.
The American-born actress and pop princess opens the album with the third single Taste: a light rocky-disco tune contrasted with bold lyricism which immediately welcomes us into Sabrina’s new era of confidence and revenge. Guitars perfectly blends with Sabrina’s vocals and the instrumentation sets the bar high for the rest of the album. The music video was also highly anticipated by fans as it Sabrina herself is in it, alongside fellow American actress Jenna Ortega.
Short n’ Sweet’s narrative continues in the single released earlier in June – Please Please Please. Through the instruments used and the vocal style, a huge country influence is clear. The track explores a mixture of affection, frustration and making decisions.
Espresso was many people’s summer soundtrack due to the lively upbeat tune. This song has multiple meanings embedded within as well as a catchy beat. “I can’t relate to desperation/My ‘give-a-fucks’ are on vacation”
To put a powerful album to a close, Sabrina has gone above and beyond on the final song Don’t Smile.
“Oh, you’re supposed to think about me/ Every time you hold her”
The lyrics make a cyclical call back to Taste – the first track in the album.
Overall, Short n’ Sweet is an upbeat album full with powerful vocals and instrumentation. The music videos suitably capture the meanings behind the songs. They allow listeners to develop a deeper connection with the album. Some tunes sound similar to one another and can become repetitive but individually they are all enjoyable songs.
Sabrina Carpenter will be touring the UK next year. She will perform to a sold out O2 Arena crowd in London, early in 2025 to promote the album. Carpenter will also embark on an arena tour in North America next month.
