THE PERFECT SUMMER’S DAY
Sam Palladio, a Cornish singer, song writer and actor, known to many as โGunner Scottโ in the hit series, โNashvilleโ releases his first album and follows it with a UK tour at the end of September.
The Perfect Summer’s Day, Before We Lost The Light contains a mix of rock, pop and soulful indie. It speaks to Samโs experience in and around music, particularly his love of Nashville and heartland Americana. The sounds and textures of the album highlight very personal and life changing moments and emotions.
Meanwhile In London opens the album; it’s a testament to Samโs transatlantic life over the last years. The story is of love and losing long distance friendships and what is going on while youโre away; โlove isnโt always enoughโ.
The title of the album, The Perfect Summer’s Day, Before We Lost The Light is a lyric taken from the single, Something On My Mind. Inspired by the untimely passing of Samโs mother, Sally, the song is a very emotional ballad . It is a heartfelt tribute to her but one that will resonate with many others who have had the same experience of loss and grief.

COLLABORATIONS
Palladio has written all the songs on the album along with some great collaborations. Spill Your Heart, written with Simon Neil (Biffy Clyro), is a laidback anthem for late night bars which has smooth acoustic guitars along with contrasting crescendos and riffs. Recent single, Tennessee, goes back to the southern rock that he has come to love during his ten years in America. It’s another bar room anthem with a solo from his friend and Foo fighters man, Chris Shiflett.
Elsewhere, Gone Like The Summer, written with Kaiser Chiefs drummer Nick Hodgson, is an upbeat catchy indie tune. The song is a bit of nostalgia, remembering the youthful summer romances of the past that come and go so easily,
WAKE ME UP IN NASHVILLE
Wake Me Up In Nashville is a song familiar to Nashville fans. Palladio sings the song on the Nashville Reunion tours in the UK. As the final song, it is a song based on a story that his grandfather told him. As a young man his grandfather had fallen in love with a girl who lived in Nashville. After the war, he was unable to get back to her and never saw her again. It is a love song full of longing and cherished memories. An ideal song to play out the album.
The album was born in Nashville, with some judicious nods back to the UK and finished in Los Angeles in the iconic Prince Room of the legendary Sunset Sound studios with Grammy winning producer Dave Sardy (Noel Gallagher, Band of Horses, Royal Blood). The Perfect Summer’s Day, Before We Lost The Light is a great musical collection of heartfelt, emotional and upbeat songs. Palladio is confident in his versality and ability for song writing and collaborating with other artists.
