If the term ‘alternative’  makes you feel a touch squeamish then rest at ease just as that well used term  can  when used with comedy  be superfluous ( its either funny to you or not!). So  with music its either good or not or to be accurate to your taste or not. Well to me One Adam One’s new EP is just very good.

Hailing from St Louis, this duo lives up to the standard of music we associate with that city in just 18 minutes of sublime low key music.

Quality oozes from every note and word. The title track has a tender Sunday (as opposed to Monday…) morning feel  and is ram-packed with luxuriant tones. A gentle unassuming beat, mellow vocals belie the strong personal message of  Girl You Gotta Know too which swings along gently like a smoothly rocking patio chair.

Beating My Wings  has a Dylanesque feel  with some luscious guitar work  before a swingier I Don’t Feel Myself  is a catchy  number with a too brief   guitar solo and some interesting vocal effects adding a  different texture.

Sideways Sundays bring this fascinating recording to a too early close and the pedal steel guitar gives us an inkling that AOA are regarded as country. The sleepy beat may have slowed things down again but you can paddle around in the sweet sounds .

This EP is teeming  with warm rich sounds which will relax the most savage breast!
