PLANET NOWHERE

Planet Nowhere is the highly anticipated fifth studio album by Razorlight. Since dominating the indie-rock scene in the early 2000s, including three Top 5 charting albums, numerous awards, and headlining Reading and Leeds Festival just to name a few, Razorlight never actually disappered.

After reuniting for live shows in 2021, the classic line-up: Johnny Borrell, Bjรถrn ร…gren, Carl Dalemo, and Andy Burrows – have made their return with their new album Planet Nowhere, which marks their first album with the classic line-up since 2008.

The British rock quartet open with the single Zombie Love- a light and upbeat tune which welcomes us to the album and sets the tone for whatโ€™s to come. It kicks off to an enthusiastic and energetic start which places it as a personal favourite. The track incorporates dynamic rhythms, vibrant guitar riffs, and a catchy melody, and meaningful lyrics which immediately pull you in.

Oh you gotta get those feelings off
Oh I never knew I was your Zombie love

HEARTFELT SONGS

Planet Nowhere is a joy to listen to. However, the lyrics offer a deeper dimension to the albumโ€”the songs are so heartfelt that they leave you with a contrasting sense of fulfilment yet emptiness due to the lyricism and instrumentation.

The cheerful beat continues in the song Taylor Swift = US Soft Propaganda, keeping the momentum going after the impactful opening tracks. Once again, the instrumentals shine through and contribute making the album a pleasure to listen to.

SCARED OF NOTHING

Released back in July, the fifth track from the album was Scared of Nothing. Johnny Borrell expresses his pride for the single; โ€œWhen โ€˜Scared Of Nothingโ€™ was finished, I thought: โ€˜This changes everything. Weโ€™ve got a direction now.โ€ The song greets the guitar riff, along with the perfect blend of vocals from Johnny and drums from Andy. Vocals and electric guitar solo showcase passion and tie in with the lyrics:

I got to make this puzzle fit
Yeah, I was born to do arithmetic
There’s no way I’ll prove the game is fixed
Well if it is then I’m still playing it

APRIL ENDS

To bring the album to a close, the band delivers a closure with the track April Ends. This song provides the perfect outro for an already incredible album, with an instrumental that stays with you long after the music fades out.

In conclusion, Planet Nowhere takes listeners on an emotional journey that blends captivating melodies with introspective lyrics. Itโ€™s an album that not only showcases Razorlightโ€™s musical growth but also invites you to reflect on themes of isolation, longing, and self-discovery.

Whether youโ€™re drawn in by infectious and tuneful rhythms or deeper lyrical undertones, Planet Nowhere is an album that captivates on multiple levels. It leaves a lasting impact with each listen.

Razorlight have just completed a successful festival run this summer as well as supporting James on tour. They will return to the stage in October for their UK tour.
