“The Unseen’ is a contemplative piece which takes time to fully open up. Musically, we tried to strike a delicate balance between melancholy and optimism and lyrically I tried to reflect the fleeting beauty of a vulnerable nature and, as such, the importance of embracing the present moment; whatever it may bring.”
It’s always handy when a group member gives you an insight into their musical thinking so thank you vocalist Yann Ligner for this.
After touring Europe, USA, Australia and Mexico and wowing festival crowds at Hellfest 2024, Prog Power USA, Midsummer Prog and Cruise To The Edge, Klone have established themselves as a band which are as much a full bodied sensory experience as just a musical one.
Many a thinking person attuned to the global issues and wondering what the outcome will be in the short and long term it is understandable to focus on ‘the now’ and take full advantage of what is good. They’ve definitely lyrically got a finger on the pulse there Their pulsating music is extremely encapsulating giving listeners an extremely compulsive musical experience.
A positive outlook flows powerfully out of this album. There are hypnotic mellow moments and there are, in total contrast, mind jarring explosive parts with not a second is left empty. Like the best of films repeated visits reveals new things to find. The pulsating love song Magnetic has all the dips and soaring musicality that embellishes this splendid album while the 12 minute epic Spring creeps slowly into life like nature re- emerging from the cold then bursts into life displaying their fondness of changing from light to dark then changing dreamlike into haunting, swirling melodies.
All facets of progressive rock are visited – ringing guitars, jazzy rhythms, variety of percussive time signatures, poetic and insightful lyrics. With saxophone , an unusual instrument added to the mix another element is added which is as unexpected as the flute was the in the early days of prog, we find a variation in texture too.
The band have featured regularly on our pages in recorded shape and live outings, Klone and The Unseen provide a wonderful encompassing musical experience.
