Celebrated singer-songwriter of world-famous hits, Charlie Dore is set to light up venues from the Lake District to London this December 5th to 13th with her The Man Who Built Christmas show.

The Man Who Built Christmas was originally a three song EP, released in Winter 2021, but the songs have not featured in her live gigs until now  with this special run of December gigs.

Joined by the stellar multi-instrumentalist Julian Littman (Steeleye Span), the show will feature original yuletide songs that blend Dore’s signature storytelling with unique seasonal warmth.

“My entire catalogue was a Christmas-free zone, which was fine by me,” says Charlie. “Except for one song, Santa and Edie, which I wrote for the Green Note’s Festive Show. This whet my appetite for approaching the whole Christmas thing from different angles, trying for unusual plots, like making miniature movies with the listener behind the camera.”

One of the UK’s most respected songwriters, Charlie’s gigs have been described as ‘eclectic contemporary folk-Americana with crunchy lyrics’. In these intimate and special performances, Charlie will debut tracks from her Christmas repertoire, alongside favourites from her nine studio albums, and a few surprises. Charlie and Julian will seamlessly swap between guitars, piano, harmonium, mandolin, and ukulele, sharing stories and songs that explore the heart of Christmas from fresh, unexpected perspectives.

Charlie is known for her lyrical prowess and the eclectic blend of contemporary folk-Americana that has won her awards on both sides of the Atlantic. With a career that has spanned decades, Dore’s music continues to resonate. Charlie Dore’s songs have been recorded by the good and the great, including George Harrison, Tina Turner, Celine Dion, Martha Wainwright and Jimmy Nail, but her live shows reveal that actually she keeps the best songs for herself.

Here’s a taste of what to expect:

“A true story of The (Real) Man Who Built Christmas…my dad, who stayed up all night one Christmas Eve to build a six year old me  a puppet theatre from a kit. To say DIY wasn’t his strong point was an ocean-going understatement but he persisted and although it was a bit wonky I loved it. What a lovely man”
