It’s been a while since Faceless Mirror treated us to some of their unique brand of rock but it has been worth the wait.

Music can be as cathartic for the listener as well as the writer. In this case the writing credit for Faceless Mirror’s latest single release goes to their talented guitarist Dean Macaw. Family tragedy and domestic trauma form the basis of this dark and deeply emotional song which is heavier in dynamic to the usual Dave Cavanagh style song.
Faceless Mirror are never shy of dealing with real issues with well crafted songs which resonate closely to their listeners , Dean’s song of loss and abuse is expressed honestly and with sensitivity. The Gilmouresque solo in particular oozes with pain and anguish but the savage beauty of it leaves you soothed as it provides a release to the torment as it was intended to do for the composer.
They do say never upset someone who can write a song as reprisals can be sung powerfully which Dean does, pouring buckets of scorn, with a Roger Waters venom, on a cruel step-parent .
“Every word and action in front of children can leave a lasting impression and profoundly influence their lives. They may remember it ALL, and even one day – Turn it into a SONG!!” Dean tells us.
What Have You Got To Say For Yourself is released as a Faceless Mirror song although the solo at the end and the chorus were recorded 20 years ago by Dean, the rest adapted from the original version. The song will be released on 23rd November to commemorate the sad passing of his brother at the tender age of 27 on that date in 1996.
The video for the single is age restricted but can be viewed on Youtube
Derek Armistead on drums, Michael Hunt on bass, Tony Rendell on Keys, and Dave Cavanagh on acoustic guitar and backing vocals form the current Faceless Mirror lineup and we are looking forward to how they follow up From The Void with their new album, Rearview Mirror, scheduled for release in the new year.
