SOULS IN MOTION
Souls in Motion is the debut album by Pastel. Their debut EP, Deeper Than Holy, soared to Number 1 on the UK’s Official Vinyl Chart, and all 600 limited-edition vinyl copies sold out in a flash.
The Mancunian five-piece welcome us to the album with Heroes Blood. Opening with a powerful guitar hook followed by drums and strong vocals from Jack Yates. Liam O’Shea, on bass, certainly makes a great first impression on the album, along with Joe Anderson’s distinctive guitar playing.
Your Day keeps the energy alive. Released in 2023, the track captures a sense of freedom and youthful spirit.
“Don’t sit around and hide, for this is your day’“
On the song, the guitar work truly stands out, delivering captivating riffs that evoke the spirit of bands like The Verve and The Stone Roses. The track also shares their signature blend of powerful vocals and melodic energy.

LEAVE A LIGHT ON
Leave A Light On (Velvet Storm) brings the mood to a more reflective state. With a psychedelic guitar sound, dreamy melody, and the iconic Manchester tone, it sees Pastel in a more introspective light. Released back in October ’24, this single has quickly become a fan favourite, building excitement for the upcoming album. It carries a similar vibe to The Verve’s Weeping Willow; almost like its modern-day successor.
Pastel conclude their stunning debut album with the track Escape. The song delivers a flawless outro to a remarkable album, featuring some of the most beautiful lyrics. The instruments blend effortlessly with the vocals, creating a reflective narrative and closure to the album.
“And it’s time I find my way and it’s time I will escape“
Souls In Motion is an album that evokes the golden spirit of 90’s indie rock. It looks back, but with a forward facing focus. The tunes are big and the words profound. Bigger than that, the soul is incredible.
Pastel will embark on their biggest UK tour this February and March to promote their latest album, following successful support slots with artists like Liam Gallagher and The Twang. You can view their tour dates here.
