A new song whose title anticipates an oncoming cyclone. Dave Cavanagh has once again penned a tune with a mix of his yearning vocals and choral accompaniment. The latter courtesy of Trina, Taren and Zardi, wife and daughters of narrator Paul Cunningham. His rich and warm spoken words are delivered in a style not too dissimilar from old country favourite Big Bad John.

Musically, Back Where The Winds Don’t Blow has all the elements we expect from Faceless Mirror. Michael Hunt and Dereck Armistead’s solid rhythm and backbeat, Dean Macaw’s tuneful guitar fills and a catchy refrain. A relevant moral personal issue exudes an appropriate sentiment and honesty.

Recalling and yearning for happier times are captured with some evocative phrases. There is a poetic quality to Paul’s narration with lines such as: “energy and motion looking at the ocean” and “fingerprints on the window pane on a frosty morn“. Ever the romantic, Dave recalls an amorous moment to add into the creatively constructed layers within the song.

Although the original version of the song was written in the early 70’s by brothers Dave and John Cavanagh, the new version retains its freshness and of course its strong relevance.https://youtu.be/7__upjAAkhI?si=6wIIZcPxqfCSPxsk
