Detta Kenzie goes in at the deep end with a bold choice of single.

Embellished by the undoubted quality of Tobias Ben Jacob on guitar providing a constant presence of tumbling notes, the choice certainly nails her folk colours to the mast. Hitting the heights of a higher register within a few seconds, conjuring up the iconic Sandy Denny take, there’s a warming and gentle flow as the tale skirts the lonesome plains and mountain sides.

The sympathetic production offers spacious ambience and the hint of a Celtic tinge. A brief instrumental passage with a hint of a distant wash adds to a soothing four and half minutes that brings a new and worthy variation to this familiar cautionary tale.
