GENRE BENDING
Bon Bon Vivant’s dynamic sound fuses the pulse of their New Orleans home with the grit and the heart of Americana. In the hands of the band’s frontwoman Abigail Cosio and saxophonist/vocalist Jeremy Kelley, the band’s music is a tribute to life, from the chaotic to the captivating – and everything in between. Bon Bon Vivant have created a musical identity that is freewheeling and bold, pulling liberally from the storytelling of classic Americana, the edge of indie rock and the unshakeable groove of New Orleans.
New single, Sin Eater, is a song of devotion, inspired by the ritual and role of a Sin Eater – a member of many historical communities throughout the world who would absolve the sins of a deceased member of the community by eating bread placed on the body, to symbolise consuming the sins of the dearly departed. Speaking of the song, Abigail says: “We have presented a macabre love song with the concept of the Sin Eater, taking on the weight of another’s burden.”

BE CAREFUL…
There’s an intriguing buzz, before the jazzy, sleazy, full force of the band hits. Abigail sounds positively dangerous as she sings lyrics like: “I Keep trying to hide it, but the moon makes me shape-shift/ A she-wolf on the hunt, for whatever you want…” She lures the listener in to a false sense of security as she whispers: “I will clean up the blood, and it won’t stain my love for you,” but the sensible advice has to be: ” Be careful…” And, when Jeremy’s sax starts to howl, hold onto your hat!
Bon Bon Vivant are famed for the vitality of their live shows and, on the evidence of Sin Eater, that’s a reputation that’s well-earned indeed. Watch out for them – they may come a creeping around YOUR neighborhood…
