Next single from the Beckett / Anthony / Friends collaboration on the songs of Jacques Brel.

The next single teasing the Though We Have Only Love album, is I Love You. The piece is piece based on Jacques Brel’s Je T’aime’ and features Larry Beckett on spoken word and piano, Stuart Anthony on guitar, Matt Canty on bass and James Edge on a lovely flute right at the end of the piece.

Don’t expect anything like Serge Gainsborough / Jane Birkin breathy classic of the same name. Instead, another painstakingly accurate translation into English sees Beckett gives his trademark stately delivery against what might seem a simple backing. As simple yet as meaningful as those three little words. However, it’s the subtlety in the understated arrangement that add a real depth and give the spoken words a genuine meaning.
