Ahead of a run of upcoming UK tour dates next year, Charm Of Finches are back with a brand new
single, Meteor.

Inspired by the powerful forces of nature that reflect a tumultuous inner world, Mabel and Ivy Windred-Wornes recorded the new song by the ocean in Victoria, Australia, and mixed in Canada.
โThis song came out of a bit of a turbulent time, and contemplates the sometimes fraught relationship with the
self,” they say. “Weโve visited many dramatic landscapes this year – we hiked up an active volcano in New Zealand and
visited the oldest rainforest in the world up in Northern Queensland. We think that witnessing the power and
grandeur of nature really influenced the writing of this song.โ
The track is accompanied by a bewitching official video featuring elegant choreography and shamanic feathered costumes hand-crafted by the band. Always with an eye for striking design and costumery (we took notes of their vintage shop expeditions on a recent UK visit) the last time we saw a head dress like that, it was atop the head of Sharon den Adel of Within Temptation.
SENSUAL AND STRING LADEN
Of the visuals, the band add: โWe love to create music videos that are sort of like mini short films. We drew aesthetic inspiration from Yellow Jackets with a sprinkle of Narnia, got out the glue guns and handcrafted elven twig crowns and feathered costume pieces, and even painted an animal skull mask. We collaborated with our incredible friends who helped us design and put together the costumes, source props as well as dance and act in it! “
The result is a a magical, powerful, natural world that incorporates incorporates the beauty of the Australian landscape with the song itself highlighting the Charm Of Finches delicacy in a sensual and string-laden arrangement. And despite some unsettling imagery, which also adds a fascinating appeal, do they utter the immortal words “I’m a celebrity, get me out of here!“
IN OTHER NEWS
As they map out the course of their next album, the Finches will return to the UK for a stretch of intimate shows and scenic songwriting sessions. Kicking-off at Londonโs The Grace on 18th February and concluding at Glasgowโs Glad Cafe on 4th March, the run will see them play at towns and cities everywhere in-between on this fourteen-date tour.
“On our last UK tour, we connected with so many people and we canโt wait to visit again – singing in old churches,
stuffing ourselves with English breakfast and patting highland cows. Then we’ll be writing songs by the windswept
coasts and rugged mountains of Scotland, creating our fifth record.”
Sounds good to us – vintage shops of the UK beware…
