Hannah Rarity – Christmas Came Early This Year: Single Review

One of Scotland ‘s finest voices, Hannah Rarity, with a touching charity single.

Release Date: 28th November 2025

Format: Digital

Label: Self release

RICH, MELLIFLUOUS VOICE

As I write in late November, Christmas songs have made shops and radio stations all over the nation a nest of ear worms and novelty songs decades past their sell-by-date for weeks already. So it’s good to get a new Christmas single – and a charity one at that – which just calms things down.

Hannah Rarity is one of Scotland’s top singers, with a rich mellifluous voice which she brings to bear on traditional tunes, her own compositions and the occasional cover to great effect. Here, in her first release since her last album in 2022, she’s worked with songwriting partner Boo Hewerdine to craft a short, gentle tale of caring for a loved one.

ALL-STAR CAST

The song is recorded by Hannah’s touring band of Innes White and Anna Massie, with bass added by Charlie Stewart, making it an all-star cast.

Proceeds from the single, which is available from Hannah’s Bandcamp page, will go to support the Highland Hospice.

Hannah will be on tour in Scotland through December with Anna Massie, details on her website.
