Happy days – news of a new album from Jim Moray with all the pre-order detail.

It’s been a good eighteen months since our last encounter with Jim Moray on the Richard Thompson tour so it’s with great excitement we have news of Gallants. The new album – his first set of new songs since 2019 (2023’s Beflean saw him reinterpret material from his back catalogue)-ย is set to appear on 3rd April 2026 and is available to pre-order now.
With a cover that seems to find him in Masked Singer mode (although we’d recognise those Adidas trainers anywhere)
Gallants features nine tracks, comprising eight traditional songs alongside one newly written ballad. Again, the album showcases Morayโs distinctive approach to folk music: rooted in tradition while sounding unmistakably contemporary. Recorded and produced by Moray in his own studio, he tell us:
“It was mostly played (and produced) by me, but theres also contributions from Archie Churchill-Moss, drummer Matt Stockham Brown, David Le Page (Orchestra Of The Swan), cellist Clare OโConnell (London Contemporary Orchestra, Radiohead), Northumbrian piper Andy May, and Maddie Morris. The closing track features rich choral harmonies from members of Trans Voices too.“
The album is available on CD, eco-mix coloured vinyl, and digital download, with bundle options including a t-shirt also available. Pre-orders can be made now at: https://jimmoray.co.uk/gallants
