Culture Wars – Gorilla, Manchester: Live Review

Cultrue Wars, Shrink – Gorilla, Manchester – 21st June 2026

SHRINK

Shrink opened the night with a burst of energy as they walked out on stage with intent. No slow build, no easing in, they hit the room straight away with the rhythms, sharp guitars and a striking confidence. Gorilla suits a band like this, a band who play like they mean it. They filled the room with a kind of urgency.

Their set moved quickly, each track landing with enough force to pull the audience in. You could feel the shift in the room the longer they performed, people reacting and enjoying the music. They did not overdo anything they just played well, loud and looked like they genuinely enjoy being on stage. By the time they had finished the set, the room was ready and eager for more.

CULTURE WARS

Finally, Culture Wars stepped out and took centre stage and they immediately took control of the night. Their performance has this grounded intensity, not theatrical, not over styles, just a real performance. Watching them on stage you could not help but feel pulled into their music. Their performance felt livedโ€‘in. Earned. Like the product of a decade spent writing, touring, and trusting their instincts.

Their performance at Gorilla had this grounded intensity that came from how they performance with one another. No theatrics, no over styled moments, just a band fully locked in who clearly enjoy what they are doing with one another.

What really stood out was how they connected with the audience. Culture Wars did not perform like a band trying to impress, the performed like a band who genuinely want to share something. The chemistry across the stage was clear, every member locked in to what they were doing, building a sound that felt cohesive, confident, and fully realised.

ERUPTION

Throughout the set the energy grew more as it progressed, not in a dramatic arc, but in a way that felt natural and human. By the time the set reached the last few songs with room was completely with them. Everyone was there present. Singing and dancing along, soaking in the feeling, it was truly a magical moment to witness. Gorilla is a venue that rewards authenticity and Culture Wars filled it with exactly that.

As their last song faded, the room fully erupted. The audience fully understood Culture Wars had given everything they had and the crowd had met them there and matched their energy. You could feel the energy in the room long after the band had stepped off stage. It was nice to see many people in the audience waiting behind after buying their merch to have the chance to speak to the band after their performance.

Culture Wars brought a real sense of momentum to Gorilla, the kind of headline set that feels loud, present, and fully connected to the room. Their show wasnโ€™t overly performative or polished, it was direct, emotional and built on the strength of their performance.
