DMA’s make their major label debut with their new self titled album on RCA Records.

MAJOR LABEL DEBUT
After forming 12 years ago, Australia indie-rock royalty DMAโs release their self titled fifth album. It marks a significant milestone in their career. DMA’s now have the backing of a major global record label for the first time.
El Alamein is quite the welcome to the album, introducing fans new and old to an evolved yet signature sound that is true to DMAโs. Marking 10 years since the release of Hillโs End, the band are already living up to the expectations of their self-titled record.
My Babyโs Place is built around reflection and a contrast between vulnerability and gratitude. This single marks the bandโs first entirely self-produced track. The verses feel conflicted and personal, building up to a confident chorus led by Tommy OโDellโs sharp vocals. Polished production and echoing vocals are just the cherry on top of an already powerful start to the album.ย
A NOD TO THE NORTH
The album journey continues into Hurracane, a metaphorical song comparing an unpleasant relationship to a destructive storm. In conversation with Rolling Stone, lead guitarist Matt Mason said that they โused the idea of a displacing storm to tell the story leaning into a style that we hadnโt recorded ourselves beforeโ.
You’re crashing through my mind like a hurricane
Time and time again, cut against the grain
You’re burning through my heart like a hurricane
Oh, it’s such a shame I’ll never feel the same
Released back in April, the single Heatin Park serves as a nod to Manchesterโs Heaton Park. Driven by whirring guitars and anthemic vocals, the track stands out as a unique track and sounds even better in a live atmosphere, surrounded by fans, jumping and screaming the lyrics.
Dancing Luck slows down the record and creates a moment of reflection amongst the other high-energy tracks. OโDellโs prominent vocals soar, accompanied by a melancholy acoustic guitar, adding depth and a personal touch to the track.
ENERGETIC ENDING
Distance closes the album in true fashion, with electric guitar solos and rocky drum beats. As opposed to the usual emotional finale, we are left with an energetic ending which makes you want to go back and relisten the album.
DMAโs have continued to prove their status in the indie rock scene, a decade since their debut album. The record blends a mix of nostalgia and fresh energy, giving it a unique feel while keeping the bandโs signature sound.
DMAโs are heading on a record store tour this month to celebrate the release of their album, as well as a headline tour in early 2027.
