Dom Malin – Echoes Of Light: EP Review

The debut EP from Dom Malin explores identity, loss, and self-doubt, before offering warmth, hope, and connection.ย

ECHOES OF LIGHT

Made possible by a crowdfunding campaign backed by his growing community, Echoes Of Light touches on the emotional weight of everyday life.

The 5-track EP features recent singles Lost in the Fog, Room at the Inn, and Sahara Sun, alongside two new cuts.  It explores themes of identity, loss and self doubt, sitting honestly with difficult emotions, before offering warmth, hope and connection. The Americana-tinged, indie ballad Blackhole completes the EP.

Focus track 7 AM narrates the silent battles people fight within themselves, weaving between themes of anxiety, self-worth, and trauma. Blending indie guitar lines with reflective lyricism, the song sits in the space between feeling stuck in the past and trying to survive in the present, bringing a comforting voice to the feelings that can be difficult to describe.

Talking about the track, Malin said: โ€œI was in the final year of my 9-to-5 job, completely exhausted, mentally drained and wondering if I would ever do music full-time.”

He added: “The song felt like my own consciousness questioning me, asking if this was something I could live with and whether I would ever truly be happy if nothing changed. This song came from those early mornings travelling to work, trying to face another day when deep down, I knew I wanted a different life.โ€
