When I’m In My Grave is the third single from Edenthorn ahead of a tbc album release. Be prepped for a song that’s not about death; instead, a song about resistance and refusing to surrender to the norm just because it is expected of us. The notion of how we’re taught to fall in line, work, conform and repeat and just accept that this is how life is supposed to be lived.
“I’ve never been very good at following the rules,” says vocalist and lyricist Kyle Tague. “The world’s a bit of a pantomime and I suppose this is my way of saying so.”
As the song says, never run and never hide. And like Bon Jovi’s I’ll Sleep When I’m Dead, the message from the rooftops, after you’ve been savaged by the filthy guitar solo, is “I’ll give in and I’ll comply, when I’m in my grave.”
Kicking off with a dirty riff that stomps ruthlessly and unrelentingly over all-comers, When I’m In My Grave is prime Edenthorn. “I think the talk box has a very ‘don’t care’ quality to it which fits the attitude of the song. And it just sounds f**king cool” says guitarist/producer/engineer, Dylan Gardner. Slash and Richie Sambora take note.
