Corella bring their biggest night yet to Manchester Academy 2 – it’s the album release show for A Beautiful World To Lose.

A DIFFERENT ANTICIPATION
There was a different kind of anticipation hanging in the air at Manchester Academy 2 for a Friday night. This wasn’t just another stop on a tour schedule for Corella. This was an album release show for A Beautiful World To Lose, a celebration of a record years in the making, and judging by the queue wrapping around the venue long before doors opened, Manchester knew it too.
As the lights dimmed and the band emerged to a deafening reception, Academy 2 immediately felt too small to contain the occasion. The crowd roared every word before a note had even been played, eager to welcome the Mancunian indie favourites back to a city that has championed them from the very beginning. It felt less like a gig and more like a milestone being shared between a band and the people who helped get them there.
From the opening run of songs, Corella played like a band determined to make the night unforgettable. There was confidence in every movement, every guitar line and every chorus. The room bounced from front to back as fans threw themselves into the set, creating the kind of atmosphere that bands dream of when planning an album release show.

A NEW CHAPTER
The setlist struck the perfect balance between celebrating familiar favourites and introducing a new chapter. New tracks sat comfortably alongside older material, with the crowd embracing every moment as though they’d been living with the songs for years. One of which arrived with the trackย Bloom. The track transformed Academy 2 into a sea of raised arms and voices as the crowd took over vocal duties. What stood out most wasn’t just the scale of the singalong, but how naturally it happened. Joel barely needed to direct the room; Manchester knew exactly what to do. For a few minutes, the distinction between band and audience disappeared entirely.
Later in the set,ย Come Aroundย provided another standout moment. Built around soaring melodies and an infectious sense of momentum, the song felt designed for a venue of this size. Every chorus landed with greater force than the last, the crowd feeding energy back towards the stage and receiving even more in return. It was one of those live performances where the song seemed to grow beyond its recorded version, becoming something bigger through shared experience.
DEFINING MOMENTS
Yet the defining image of the night came during the closing stages of the set. As the opening notes ofย Barcelona Girlย rang out, Joel stepped down from the stage and into the crowd. Instantly, a circle formed around him as hundreds of phones rose to capture the moment. Rather than creating distance, it brought everything closer together. Surrounded by fans singing every word back at him, the performance became intensely personal despite taking place in a packed room. The connection felt genuine and unforced, the perfect ending to a show built on community and celebration.
Across the evening, Corella looked completely at home on the Academy 2 stage. There was an unmistakable sense that this was a band enjoying the moment while simultaneously hinting at even bigger things to come. Album release shows can sometimes feel like a victory lap. This felt more like the beginning of a new chapter.
