Ingested are set to release their new album, Where Only Gods May Tread, on 14th August. The album comprises ten completely brutal death metal ditties that ensures Ingested’s slot at the top of the death metal pile in the UK.
Jason Evans, vocalist with Ingested, joins us as he shares his love of a band that have guided him through the rough times in life. There is nothing quite like heavy metal.

People say inspiration comes when it seems the world is at it’s darkest, and whilst I was a fan of Killswitch Engage’s first two albums back in the day, it wasn’t until a few years ago when I truly reconnected with the band. A while back I was at a bit of a low point in my life and I had to take some time away from Ingested to sort myself out and get my head together.
It was during this time that I heard the “My Curse”. Now, I’d been aware of this song for years, but this time something was different. This time I could feel the lyrics, the emotion of the song, it was awesome. From there I couldn’t stop, I bought all the CDs, learned all of the lyrics and completely fell in love with the band.

My favourite album would have to be “The End of Heartache,” as it’s hit after hit after hit. There isn’t one mediocre song on that album, and Howard Jones’ vocal performance is second to none. If we’re talking influences though, Jesse Leach’s performance on “Alive or Just Breathing” was, and still is a huge influence on my vocal style, that opening salvo of “THE TIME APPROACHES!!” still gets me pumped to this day.
Long story short, Killswitch Engage and their music gave me the inspiration to turn my life around and get back to doing what I love, and I know we sing about death and destruction, but I really do hope that our music can help people in some way too.
So, when the world does seem at it’s darkest, get your favourite music out (doesn’t matter if it’s Cannibal Corpse or Justin Beiber) and press play, because sometimes all we need to do, is bang our fuckin’ heads.
Many thanks to Jason and Ingested for writing about their love of Killswitch Engage.
