Not one to miss out on the opportunity to release a new single on Friday the 13th, Bleek Noir goes Under My Nails.

We’re promised (in the very words of BK) “something a little different.” Maybe not quite in the same vein as Spinal Tap’s Jazz Odyssey or a bizarre bid for the new Bond role (or more appropriately, a new Bond Villain?) judging by the artwork. A ‘write the feem toon, sing the feem toon’ sort of thing.
However, one thing you can never escape is, like the distinct smell of Brut, the distinct sound of Bleek Noir. Six months on from the Sounds Behind The Night EP, a few seconds is all that’s needed to catch on to who’s on the digital jukebox. More accessible? Possibly a gateway to the other side? Under My Nails could be a lighter shade of dark that opens some creaking doors to the world of friendly, although slightly eerie mock horror. The bright and brassy fanfares might induce less of a shiver and a quiver than of late, the occasional falsetto an amusing diversion as the tune swings along with a rare jollity.
It’s a robust addition to the ever-growing Bleek Noir legacy (10 EPs since 2017) – his own genre named Bleek Noir
Look out for the video (and ‘recording of’ video where you’ll find BN wringing the necks of a variety of guitars) coming in the next couple of weeks….
