Barbara – the Spring Soiree

News of a hometown show for ATB faves Barbara

Barbara – they’re the band of which Neil Hannon says: “They are so up my street … really tight songwriting, very poptastic!” We couldn’t agree more having regularly featured their music and their live shows on the At The Barrier pages.

The band will be playing their first headline show of 2023 on Saturday 8th April at The Prince Albert in Brighton

We were actually at a recent Barabara show at the same venue (review here – ” fantastic and exceeded my wildest expectations“) and, if you’re in Sussex or, for that matter, anywhere with road, rail, helicopter or even Tardis access to Brighton on 8th April, the best advice we can give is to get your weary frame over to the Prince Albert for what might just prove to be a life-enhancing experience.

The Prince Albert is a superb venue – less than a minute’s walk from Brighton Station. The building’s exterior is festooned with murals of every rock legend that you’d care to mention, and there’s even an original Banksy to admire. Inside is just as good. Downstairs, you’ll find a comfortable pub with the finest ales that Sussex has to offer whilst, upstairs, lies the magical land of Barbara.

Barbara won’t be playing live too often during the coming year, so 8th April will be a rare chance to catch one of ATB’s genuine favourites doing what they do best – and that’s putting on a great show for their growing army of Barbarettes!
