Stage Door Guy – Ho Ho Ho: Video Permiere

The perfect antidote for any Post Christmas blues – we premiere the vid for the jolly new single from Stage Door Guy.

How about a reminder of Stage Door Guy’s Beach Party in midwinter?! A Christmas song – Ho, Ho, Ho – is set forrelease on 15th Januar – Blue Monday, officially the saddest day of the year according to psychologist Dr Cliff Arnall.

After previewing the Beach Party video from last August, we have a premiere of the video for the new single:

The album Beach Party, Stage Door Guy’s third full-length album, is the usual toothsome mixture of genres from blues to punk to avant garde via melancholic, post-Modernist, Mancunian music hall. Adam Brody’s sardonic, darkly witty lyrics combine with CJ Williams’ varied and vital guitar work. Guests on the album include violin virtuoso Kamila Bydlowska; CJ Williams’ bandmates from Jimmy Regal and The Royals – Joff Watkins on harmonica and Andrew Samuels on drums; and a standout vocal from Nikki Ashton of The JuJubes on the powerfully kitsch and cynical Country & Western of L.O.V.E.

Should an intro be needed having missed any previous ATB postings, Stage Door Guy are Crumpsall native Adam Brody and guitarist CJ Williams, of no fixed abode. Brody and Williams met in New Orleans, and brew up a strange and effective collision and collusion between American blues and gospel, and the punk/new wave influences of Brody’s north-west home.

Brody started to perform his poetry in Manchester at the Green Room’s infamous Speakeasy Club before moving to London to find work as an actor, where he filled in time as, ermsurprise surprise, a guy who worked the stage door of West End theatres.

And with a skew-whiff look love song due out on Valentine’s Day…?! That’s Stage Door Guy…
