What Fairport Convention do after their holidays – if it ain’t broken why fix it ?- Wintour plans

The news

Getting underway at Nottingham’s Playhouse on Friday 31st January, the 2025 Fairport Convention Wintour nationwide excursion will take in 27 dates throughout England, Scotland and Wales, before wrapping up at The Roses Theatre in Tewkesbury on Sunday 2nd March.

Setlist predictions will no doubt be based around the football team maxim of a solid spine, ie, start with Walk Awhile, end with Meet On The Ledge, get a Cropredy plug midway through, allow ten minutes for Ric’s stand up routine and throw in some tasty songs from the repertoire which have been in storage. Last time around we had the pleasure of meeting again with Hawkwood’s Army, Sir William Gower and Genesis Hall, while Claudy Banks was a nice addition to the Cropredy 2024 set.

Support for the Winter 2025 Tour comes from Danny Bradley, a finger style guitarist and songwriter whose mesmerising storytelling resonates with many, and has earned him recognition – winning the Judges’ Award at Liverpool Acoustic’s Songwriting Challenge in 2021.

Born in the US, and raised in the UK, Bradley’s unique blend of compelling tales of Folk combined with impassioned singing and playing of the Blues colour his debut album Small Talk Songs. His homework will be learning the words to Meet On The ledge while we await to hear the crossover song he’ll choose for the moment when Fairport traditionally become the backing band as they join their support act.
